London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has spoken out on what he demands to happen when Theresa May’s Brexit deal is rejected by MPs.
The vote itself is planned to take place on the 14th January and is expected to be overwhelmingly rejected by MPs.
Theresa May spent most of December travelling to and meeting EU leaders and heads of state but ultimately seems to have failed to secure any legal changes to the Brexit deal.
If the deal is rejected, the default position will be a no deal Brexit, but we all know it will not be this simple.
Sadiq Khan said what he wants to see happen and I am 100% certain when I say that all Brexiteers would be against his plans.
He demanded: ”If Parliament rejects the Prime Minister’s bad deal the only sensible course of action is to withdraw Article 50 immediately.
“People from every corner of our country continue to call for the British people to get the final say – with the option to stay in the EU.”
It is not government policy to support a second vote and during the 216 EU referendum, we were told this would be a ‘once in a generation’ vote.
A second vote would not also cause division between remain voters and leaver,s but create further economic uncertainty and potentially waste billions which have been invested into preparing for Brexit.
Not to mention that the SNP will start demanding a second vote on Scottish independence despite the previous vote taking place just 4 years ago.
I say we leave with no deal, save £39 billion, create new trade deals and take back control of our borders. Is that too much to ask?
