Andrew Neil clashed with Guardian journalist Owen Jones on BBC political show, ‘This Week’
BBC host and Chairman of the Spectator, Andrew Neil refused to back down to Owen Jones during a heated argument live on air.
The pair clashed and resulted in Jones labelling the veteran TV host as ‘naive’, a claim Mr Neil strongly rejected.
Mr Neil fired back: “I knew you were going to bring that up and I won’t let you hijack.
“Your smears about me are not going to be dealt with tonight so just move off.”
“I’m not going to let you hijack. What I want to ask you is this, why is it when the far-right behaves appaling, that’s ‘thuggery’. But when the far-left does it, that’s ‘activism’
Jones replied: “I will finish what I was going to say about the spectator.”
“No, you won’t” hit back Neil.
This back and forth argument went on for so long that Jones did not get a chance to reply to Neil’s original questions.
The host said: “Alright, no you’ve run out of time so you can’t answer the question.
“Tonight was not the night to deal with your lies and smears about me”
I would like to thank Mr Neil for not backing down to this left-wing snowflake. Why the BBC gives Jones airtime I do not know, but one thing is for sure…his input is next to useless.
Former Tory Minister Michael Portillo also lashed out at Jones, he said: “Owen himself is guilty of the thing about which he makes an accusation.
“He taken an indecent outside the House of Commons, he takes the rise of some very nasty people, and they he tries to smear the entire Conservative Party.
“This is the breakdown of decent discourse. It is absolutely outrageous what you say and I think many people will be shocked.”
