Jacob Rees-Mogg has lashed out at the Prime Minister over her dealings with the Brexit deal and ability to lead.

The vast majority of remain supporters normally disagree with the backbench Conservative MP, but his latest remarks about May’s leadership and need to take responsibility for once has everyone in agreement.

Mr Rees-Mogg is a staunch Brexiteer and Chairman of the European Research Grup. Last month Jacob submitted his letter of no confidence against the Prime Minister, claiming that she and the government’s Brexit policy are now the same things. For the policy to change, she must go.

Jacob Rees-Mogg and Steve Baker of the European Research Group of Tory MPs said: “Theresa May’s plan would bring down the Government if carried forward.

“But our party will rightly not tolerate it.

“Conservatives must now answer whether they wish to draw ever closer to an election under Mrs May’s leadership. In the national interest, she must go.”

Mr Rees-Mogg said: “If you look at today, this is the failure of the Prime Minister’s policy.

“The Withdrawal Agreement was her policy, two Dexeu secretaries resigned because they could not support her policy.

“It is personally identified with her.

“She is the one who has led the Government to this defeat, she is the one who ought to take responsibility for it.”

Adding: “This deal has been defeated hasn’t it? The Prime Minister said she was pulling it saying the vote couldn’t be won.

“I thought it was as humiliating for the Government to pull the vote as to lose by 100 – if you were to weight it up.

“They must have thought they were going to lose it by more, to make it worth pulling.”

Jacob has refused to consider running against Theresa May in a leadership competition, but I imagine Boris Johnson will finally step up and deliver the Brexit we voted for!

Nevertheless, this week is sure to be eventful. Theresa May will meet the Irish Prime Minister
