Piers Morgan and Diane Abbott clashed on Good Morning Britain over Labours policy on illegal immigrants in the UK.
Mr Mogran relentlessly asked the Labour MP what her parties position is on illegal immigration.
Mr Morgan asked: “I can’t work out what your views is. Would you want to see people of that category and given amnesty?”
Abbott replied: “What I’m saying to you, is the immigration and national department is not fit for purpose. I don’t blame the staff but it is the department that needs reviewing and reorganising.”
Morgan hit back: “With respect that’s not an answer to my question. What is Labours policy? Do you think they should be removed from the country? It’s not a difficult question.
“I’m just going to ask one more time, should illegal immigrants be able to stay in this country or should they be removed?”
To which Abbott said: “No Piers, the logical fallout, is to try and work towards an immigration and nationality.”
Mr Mogran continued to put pressure on the Shadow Home Secretary saying: “I don’t know why you’re finding it hard to answer this question.”
After the interview which has no gone viral, the Good Morning Britain presenter addressed his Twitter followers, and Diane Abbott online, tweeting:
“I wasn’t trying to trick you @HackneyAbbott.
“It was a simple question: would Labour let illegal immigrants stay in Britain or deport them?
“You criticised Rudd for her failure to ‘get basic facts right’ yet couldn’t give me a straight factual answer to this fundamental question.”
